      Strawberries. Fresh and frozen strawberries are equally suitable for this recipe. Frozen food will just need to be pre-thawed before cooking.

      Chocolate. The best contrast with strawberries and vanilla layer is provided by bitter chocolate, which is listed in the ingredients list. Milk chocolate can also be used, but with it the taste contrast will be smoother and the dessert itself will be sweeter – both in perception and in fact.

      The shape of the chocolate is not important in this case – you can use both tiles and drops.

      Milk. The recipe is designed for regular whole milk of medium fat content. If you want to get a more dense creamy taste, then usually replace milk with fat (6%) or with drinking cream of 9-11% fat content. Another option is to partially replace milk with heavy cream.

      Sugar. This recipe requires regular white sugar.

      Starch. Corn starch is the optimal choice for this recipe. It thickens more softly and does not give an extraneous taste. If you still decide to replace corn starch with potato starch, then put it half as much by weight.

      Vanilla. Vanilla flavor can be added with vanilla essence, as indicated in the recipe, or add vanilla sugar. In this case, you will need 2 tsp. The usual sugar in the pudding will need to be proportionally reduced.

      We proceed to cooking.

      We prepare the custard. Beat the yolks with vanilla essence, sugar and starch until a fluffy light mass is obtained.

      Bring the milk to a boil. With constant stirring, pour a thin stream into the yolk mixture with a whisk. Pour back into the pan and put on moderate heat. Cook, stirring constantly with a whisk, until thickened. Remove from heat.

      Divide the mass in half, put finely chopped chocolate in one half and stir until dissolved.

      We grind strawberries in mashed potatoes with sugar and starch.

      Pour into a saucepan, put on the stove and bring to a boil with constant stirring. Remove from heat.

      We put the custard and strawberry puree in glasses in layers. We send it to the refrigerator until it is completely frozen.
