I recently discovered a new feature of local food realities.
To work out the dessert, I needed a banal black currant. Of course, you can't find a fresh one right now. I think I'll buy a frozen one – it's not the most exotic berry, it should definitely be in supermarkets.

To begin with, I was surprised to find that most small local stores don't actually have frozen berries and fruits. There are freezers, but they contain dumplings, khinkali, puff pastry and chicken-meat-fish of varying degrees of over-freezing.
There were more frozen berries in the stores, but the assortment is quite sad, and the price tag is such that I strongly regretted that I did not bother to freeze during the season.
This surprised me, to put it mildly, because in Minsk, I simply went to the store closest to my house for frozen berries – not even the largest one – and the basic set of black and red currants, cherries, cranberries and strawberries was always available there. And in hyperbole, all this could be bought by weight 🤷♀️
And so I can't figure out whether the enterprising cartwells freeze everything themselves in season, or whether, in principle, no one needs it here.
And now tell us how the situation is with the range of freezers in your area.
